What’s a tapenade?
Tapenade [TA-puh-nahd, ta-pen-AHD] originated in France's Provence region and became popular after World War II. Tapenade is a blend of chopped olives, capers, olive oil, and seasonings; it is typically served as a hors d’oeuvre and makes a wonderful stylish appetizer for a cocktail party. It is often used as a condiment, such as a relish on sandwich or served with crudités.

Try our tapenade as an appetizer at your party with your favorite wine -- our Black Olive Tapenade goes exceptionally well with Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Franc or Cabernet Sauvignon. If you’re a white wine lover, try either the Artichoke Tapenade or Green Olive Tapenade with Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc. The Green Olive Tapenade pairs beautifully with a full-bodied oak-aged Chardonnay, but this tapenade is robust enough to accompany a hearty red.

Here are just a few of the ways to serve tapenade:

As an appetizer spread serve with crackers or bread, or add to Chevre (goat cheese).
Spread over baked Brie just before serving.
Toss into pasta, add Parmesan, Romano or Chevre (goat cheese), and your favorite herbs.
Add to potato salad or use a topping for baked potatoes.
Spread on sliced French bread, sprinkle with shredded Parmesan, if desired, and broil for 5 minutes.
    Serve over creamy polenta.
Use as a spread on sandwiches instead of mayonnaise or relish, excellent with turkey, chicken, roast beef or ham.
Makes an excellent crab dip, to the contents of one jar of artichoke tapenade, add 3 Tbsp of Mayo, 2 Tbsp grated parmesan, 1 Tbsp bread crumbs and 2 oz of crab meat, bake at 350 F for 15 minutes, serve with French bread.
    A wonderful pizza topping.
Top your favorite grilled fish with any of our tapenades, simply spread the tapenade on the grilled fish just before serving.

Tapenades are wonderful accompaniments to many dishes, use your imagination, it’s good stuff! Enjoy!
